Sui Jianguo 隋建国

1956年生于山东青岛，现为中央美术学院教授，曾担任中央美术学院雕塑系系主任一职多年。作为国际舞台上最具影响力的雕塑艺术家之一，隋建国在自己三十多年的艺术实践中对创作观念、作品形式、媒介选择、处理方法、时空经验等多个方面都有所理解和认识。隋建国曾多次参加国际艺术群展，其中近期的有第九届上海双年展、第四届广州双年展、第九届巴腾贝格雕塑双年展、罗丹百年大展等，个展曾在旧金山亚洲美术馆、大英博物馆、纽约中央公园、OCAT（华侨城当代艺术中心）、纽约PACE画廊等重要艺术机构举行。2016年发起北京隋建国艺术基金会，并于同年联合中央美院雕塑系和中国民族摄影艺术出版社，组成《现当代雕塑理论译丛》编委会，并于2016年至今每年在北京中央美院举行翻译新书发布与相关国际研讨会。

Sui Jianguo (b.1956 in Qingdao, Shandong province) is a contemporary Chinese artist. He works in Beijing as professor of the Central Academy of Fine Art, where he presided as the head of the Department of Sculpture. For over thirty years, Sui Jianguo’s art explores his unique understanding and recognition of creation, form, alternative media, alternative methods, and space-time. Sui has participated in many group exhibitions, including the 9th Shanghai Biennale, the 4th Guangzhou Triennial, the Blickachsen 9, and “Rodin- l’exposition du centenaire” at the Grand Palais, Paris. His had solo exhibitions at the Asian Art Museum San Francisco, the British Museum, Central Park New York, OCT Contemporary Art Terminal (OCAT), and Pace Gallery, etc. In 2016, he founded Sui Jianguo Art Foundation. Foremost among the foundation’s initiatives is the publication of the Translations in Modern and Contemporary Sculptural Theory, an ongoing series of critical and historical texts specifically related to sculpture.
